this is just a small list of vegetarian restaurants that I found doing my travels. I am sure there are many others. of course restaurants change often so there are no guarantees that any of these places will be around when you get there. please let us know if any of these restaurants are closed so we can keep an updated list. keep us updated with current information on vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants threw out latin america so we can post them to this site.
BOLIVIA SOUTH AMERICA
La Paz:
1. estrella comida chifa (chines food) i arrived to la paz on a sunday and looked for food for hours, every were was closed and i was starving. it has tons of meat on the menu but also has a whole veggie section and a tofu section. i had a huge (enough to feed 3 people) veggie plate for 20 b.
2. restaurant vegetariano laksmi galeria comercial chuquiaho calle sagarnaga no 213 esq calle murillo indian food, lunch 10b. ok, but not great.
3. el vegetariano calle loayza no 420 8:30-10:30 (near the top of the hill, next door to hotel Vienna) yummy vegan yummys, highly recommended.
4. nuevemundo veggie resturant my favorite in la paz, very good. 6b. huge lunch. near the feminist cafe.
5. feminist cafe house centro carcujada 02-317967 almirate grau 525 8-10 mon-sat. not much veggie food but a must see for feminists. buy books and tapes sat night 10pm womyns night
6. 100 percent natural near the top of the hill on sagarnaga not all veggie but good veggie burgers and sandwiches.
7. Saltenas potosinas just keep an eye out for them as it is a big chain in la paz. They have veggie saltenas!
8. Restaurant vegetariano armonia Av. Ecuador 2286 (altos libria armonia) casi esq. Rosendo gutierres telf 412858 (it's a little out of town so i would advise taking a taxi your first trip there) buffet de lunes a Viernes 12-14:30. good food. 24b lunch buffet.
9. Restaurant chifa yue mei calle yanacocha #534 celular 772-67105 oh my gosh the tofu frito con verdures (18b) mmmmmm, amazing chinese food.
Cochabamba:
1. Tulasi restaurant vegetariano Heroinas no 270 entre espana y baptista Telefono 500709 cochabamba
2. Uno's vegetarian restaurant Av. Heroinas no 562-este telf 223452 cel. 014-30657 8:30-14:30 y18:30-21:30 Vegetarian Saltenas! Recommended. Vegan food.
3. Restaurant vegetariano gopal ave. espana entre(between) ecuador y comombia. They have an amazing lunch buffet for 9b. very good buffet with lotsa vegan food. highly recommended. There is another gopal in cochabamba near the post office.
Though i never saw it i was told that they sell veggie burgers on the street in cochabamba
Santa Cruz:
1. Restaurant vegetariano vida y salud calle ayacucho 444, santa cruz telefono 330728 good vegan food.
2. Restaurant vegetariano buffet cuerpomente mon-sun buffet calle pari # 228 (entre colon y velasco) tel. 37-1733
There were several other vegetarian restaurants in santa cruz so keep looking. I can't even find the address of my two favorite ones.
Other:
Breick mentas vegan mints (have sugar).
Sold on the streets and other random places in bolivia Nordlac leche vegetal (all different flavors of bagged soy milk) alimentos alfa ltda. Km 7 ½ a sacaba telf. 4270094-4270782 cochabamba Bolivia sold at random places just ask for leche de soya, you'll be surprised. Of course chocolate is my favorite.
Ask ice cream shops if they have helado de agua. Cenala (cinnamon) is usually vegan. At dumbos (a chain store throughout Bolivia) they usually have 3 or 4 vegan ice creams. must try: yucca frita, mate de coca, api, the fresh juices on the street are amazing and worth the risk try the orange juice with banana.
PERU SOUTH AMERICA
Juiaca :

govindas hike up the road towards the hot springs. its on the left side, just ask anyone in town
Arequipa :

3. sunlight restaurante casa vegetariana asian food calle moral 205 (the road behind the cathedral in the plaza de armas) hours 9-8:30 closed sunday www.sunlight.ahal.net very good cheep food, highly recommended, delicious friendly
4. govinda restaurant vegetariano santa catalina nro.120 cercado (near sunlight restaurant) telephone: 285540 hours 7-930 very expensive. never ate at that one. it is a hire Krishna chain, they have one in lima, aquas calientes, cusco and probably a few other places. i did not like it that much but if there is no other options its not bad. Puno restaurante lacto ovo vegetariano jr. libertad #449 telephono: 366386 closed Saturday 5s menu. Despite its name it will veganize anything for you highly recommended, delicious food
Cusco :
1. acuarium cuesta del almirante #211 (right up the hill from the cathedral in the plaza de armas) very good food. 4b veggie menu. it was hard finding anything besides spaghetti or less than 15b in cusco so i was very happy to find this restaurant.
2. cafe cultural ritual choquechaca 140 san blas #084-682223 hours 8:30-11 sun 1-11 expensive but big meals not completely veggie
3. govinda on espaderos (near plaza de armas) there is another veggie restaurant on matara-from plaza san francisco take misson de la estrellas til it turns into matara it has a 3s menu. Its hare Krishna and not that good. I was told by several vegetarian travelers that there is a whole block of cheep vegetarian restaurants in cusco, I apparently just did not look in the right places so keep your eye out for them.
Lima :
1. sawpes, jr tomas guido # 168 c.com.risso lince phone# 4701059 I ran into this place while I was lost. it was closed so i don't know if it was any good, just that it exists.
2. natur near plaza mayor moquequa 132 friendly, knows what a vegan is 5b menu, highly recommended 3. govinda callao 480 (near plaza) mayor ok. cheaper then the other govindas.
GUATAMALA
Guatemala City:
