Picture 1: On our way to Ixiamas we stopped for
lunch. We heard a baby capuchin monkey making a "help"
cry and found this little guy tied up to a tree behind
the restaurant. The womyn holding him said that if
there was a sanctuary she would give it to them. When
we stopped by the next day someone had picked him
up and taken him to the markets in La Paz to sell.
Picture 2: This is a very young capuchin monkey tied
up on a small cord on his way to the market to be
sold.
Picture 1: These two baby capuchin monkeys were being
sold for $3.50 each.
Picture 2: Spider monkey behind bars at the La Paz
zoo.

Picture 1: This spider monkey's eyes were pleading

Picture 2: While taking an night walk we ran into

Picture 1: It was quite common to see jaguar skins
in restaurants.
Picture 2: We counted about 20 trucks full of trees,
like this picture, leaving Ixiamas a day.

Picture 1: This sloth's nails were clipped and he
could not even climb trees.
Picture 2: Birds' wings do grow back, so with some
rehabilitation birds like this little guy we met in
Ixiamas would be able to fly again.
